What Moves on an Exness Account Card Without You
Some fields on the account screen are fixed by the account type and never move on their own. Others are recalculated by the market between one look and the next.
Open Exness Account →An Exness account card mixes two kinds of field. The account number, its type, its base currency and its trading mode are set once and stay put until a request changes them. Balance, equity, free margin and margin level are produced on the broker side: equity and the two figures derived from it move with every price tick, and they were already moving long before the screen was opened.
Fixed fields and live fields
- Fixed and unchanged until a request changes them: the account number, its type, its base currency and its trading mode.
- Balance moves only when a position is closed, when funds arrive, or when an accrual is applied — never from a price tick alone.
- Equity is balance plus the running result of everything still open, so it moves with every tick.
- Free margin is what is left of equity after the part held under open positions, and it follows equity.
- Margin level is the ratio the server watches, and automatic closure is applied against it rather than against the balance.
- None of the live fields wait for the screen to be opened; they are simply displayed the moment it is.
Which field waits for the market and which waits for you
| Field on the account card | Moves by itself | What moves it |
|---|---|---|
| Account number and type | No | Opening a different account |
| Base currency | No | Chosen once, when the account is created |
| Trading mode | No | A request to change it |
| Balance | Only on closure or accrual | A position closed, funds arriving, an accrual applied |
| Equity | Yes, with every tick | The running result of open positions |
| Free margin | Yes | Equity minus the part held under open positions |
| Margin level | Yes | The relation between equity and the part held |
The screen reports, it does not calculate
Opening the platform starts no calculation. The figures shown were produced on the broker side, and the platform asks for the current ones on connection. A number that looks new is not new — it is the first sight of something that has been changing since the last visit.
That is also why two devices signed in to the same account show the same figures. There is one account record and several windows onto it, rather than several copies being kept in step with each other.
Static fields are a decision, live fields are an outcome
The static half of the card is the shape of the account: which of Standard, Standard Cent, Pro, Raw Spread or Zero it is, which base currency it holds, and whether it sits in a swap-free mode. Each of those was chosen at some point and none of them drifts.
The live half is an outcome rather than a decision. It is produced by prices moving for or against positions that are already open, and it keeps being produced while the account is unattended.
Reading the four live figures in order
Balance answers what has already been settled. Equity answers what would be settled if everything open were closed at this second. The distance between the two is the whole of the unsettled result.
Free margin answers what is still uncommitted, and margin level is the figure the server compares with its own threshold. Those four in that order describe the state of an account without a single chart being opened.
